venue & activities

The workshop takes place at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. All scientific sessions and workshop meals will be at this venue. Terranea is an all-inclusive resort sitting on 102 acres next to the ocean with multiple restaurants, bars, and swimming pools on site.

WARNING: ROOM BLOCK RATE CLOSES ON SEPTEMBER 5th! Book your rooms before this date to lock in the $325/night rate before the rate jumps to >$700/night.

We have a dedicated block of rooms at Terranea for our workshop. Do not be intimidated by the resort room rates visible on Google, booking.com, etc. We have secured a much lower rate ($325 before taxes and fees) for our block of rooms.

Staying in the conference hotel will provide you with the best workshop experience! You will be able to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and evenings with the other attendees, maximizing networking opportunities and minimizing overheads, all in a comfortable setting. In addition to the provided meals, the resort features a number of restaurants and cocktail bars to meet after hours or have a private meal.

Book your
Lodging

The SiQEW workshop takes place October 6–8, 2025 (a Monday–Wednesday). You are free to choose your own check-in and check-out dates. The special room rate is available only for a “standard” SiQEW booking with check-in on October 5 and check-out on October 8. A smaller number of discounted rooms are available for checkout on October 9 for those who need an extra day for their travel arrangements.

The International Conference on Spin Shuttling (ICOSS) workshop is on October 9, 2025 at Terranea. Please plan on booking your accommodations for SiQEW and ICOSS separately, as there are different booking contracts for the two events. The resort is able to ensure you maintain the same room for both SiQEW and ICOSS if, when booking your lodging, you add a note that you are attending both events and want to keep the same room.

Meals and Venue Food/Beverage Costs

Check the Terranea site to better understand costs at the resort for items like coffee, water, or meals outside of the conference-provided food and drink. Feel free to stop at a store on the way for additional items to store in your room if concerned about resort costs and wanting additional snacks or caffeine. The conference will provide breakfast and lunch on all days, 1-2 coffee breaks a day, and banquet dinner on the second night.
